AAA Recording Studio
AAA Recording Studios was a legendary independent recording studio located at 835 Dorchester Ave. in Dorchester, Massachusetts.
Info
Owned and operated by local music manager and producer Joe Saia from 1965 through 1995, the studio served as a vital hub for the exploding Boston and North Shore garage rock, doo-wop, and pop scenes of the 1960s. Joe Saia was a central figure in the Massachusetts music scene. In addition to running AAA, he managed local acts and operated independent record labels like Parsay Records and Subtown Records. The studio was highly regarded for capturing a raw, energetic sound.
Its chief known engineer during its golden era was Arnold Zunick. Because it was an independent regional studio, many bands who tracked songs at AAA had their records manufactured using major-label distribution pipelines, such as custom Decca Records pressings.
