Info
- "This was an early incarnation of Tangerine Zoo, from New Bedford. Taveira had formed The Rogues (the name taken from the street gang in “West Side Story”) in 1963, but joined forces with Don Smith in 1965 to form The Batmen. Once The Batmen were able to acquire the services of talented guitarist Bob Benevides, who was returning from the service, the band changed names to the Ebb Tides in order to accommodate the new sound." (FAF)
- "Taveira, Benevides and Smith decided to drop the Robidoux brothers from the band when they learned that Wayne Gagnon - who had previously played with Benevides in the Rockin’ Teens - had become available (he, too, was in the service). They would then add organist Ron Medieros from the Knight Riders, and briefly change their name to the Flower Pot. The band would later sign with Mainstream Records, where they finally settled on the name Tangerine Zoo." (FAF)
- Robert Benevides died in 2005.
